School can be overwhelming sometimes. Between homework, tests, and trying to keep up with a social life, it’s easy to feel like everything’s closing in. But I’ve found some things that help me stay relaxed when the pressure’s on.

1.  Taking a break

When it feels like all the pressure is on me, I just take a breather. Whether it’s scrolling through my phone or catching up on a movie. Zoning out for a bit really helps. Giving my brain a quick break keeps me relaxed.

2.  Hanging out with friends

Hanging out with friends makes me forget all the stress and pressure, sometimes talking in class makes me not think about all the work and writing I have to do.

3.    Venting to the squad

Sometimes I just need to talk about it. Talking to my friends about the stress – even if they can’t help, just opening up to them helps so much. They get it, and sometimes we end up laughing about how crazy everything is. At the very least, it’s nice to know that we are all in this together.

4.  Staying organized (well…sort of)

I’m not super strict about my routines, but having a rough idea of what I need to do helps me not feel so overwhelmed. Whether it’s a to-do list or just knowing what’s coming up, it makes things feel a little less messy.

5.  Exercising (even if it’s just a walk)

I know it sounds kind of cliché, but getting outside and moving helps more than I thought it would. Even just a short walk around the block clears my head and gets me back on track.

6.  Saying “No” sometimes

it’s hard, but I’ve learned to say no to stuff that’ll stress me out even more. Sometimes I just can’t do everything, and that’s okay. I don’t need to be everywhere or do all the things to endure school.

7.  Rest and rejuvenation

No joke – if I don’t get enough sleep, I turn into a total mess! When I’m well-rested, I handle stuff way better. Pulling all-nighters just makes everything worse, so I try to get a solid 7-8 hours (most of the time, at least) of sleep every night.

8.  Positive vibes only

When things get tough, I try to stay positive. Reminding myself that it’s just school, and not the end of the world, helps me keep things in perspective. Plus, it’s temporary, so it’s better to get it right, and do all that I can do to find balance.

That’s pretty much how I deal with the pressure and stress of being a student.
